What was the Mule Barn's original purpose?
One of two Pigeonniers (pigeon houses) on Oakland Plantation. Pigeonniers were a symbol of the plantation owners wealth and the pigeons were raised for food.
The Carpenter Shop is one of the oldest buildings at Oakland Plantation. Enslaved carpernters including Solomon Wilson were responsible for building and maintaining the plantation structures.
